In the run up to the Designer Wedding Show in February, I thought it would be a good idea to profile some of the venues that recommend our services. At this time the traffic on our website increases dramatically as brides begin thinking about their wedding plans early in the year. We’re very excited as we’ve been invited to attend the Brides Open Day to be held at Eltham Palace on February 20th this year from 11.00am – 4.00pm.
Eltham Palace is a beautiful wedding venue, located in Eltham Village in South East London. Initially a moated manor house, Eltham Palace was extended in the1470s under Edward IV and later became the childhood home of Henr y VIII. After years of lavish entertaining, much of the Palace was destroyed.
Of the original buildings, only the magnificent medieval Great Hall remains today. In 1933 it was chosen by society millionaires, Stephen and Virginia Courtauld, as the location for their imaginative art deco mansion. The most influential designers of the period created a series of elegant rooms, ranging in style from glamorous 1930’s Hollywood to sophisticated Cunard ocean-liner.They also cleverly incorporated the surviving Great Hall.
Here are images of the Palace itself and a link to their wedding brochure can be found by clicking here.
